Samsung CLX 2160N - Keep Your Wallet Thick
Super small- The Samsung CLX 2160N printer is super compact, boasting with measurements of 16x14x13 inches and weighing in at a heavy 37 Pounds. It is these dimensions that make it the smallest multi-function on the market. If your home or office space as well as budget is limited the device is the ideal investment at approximately US$380.00. The best toner for this printer is the Samsung CLX 2160N printer toner.
Print quality- Print quality is really not good at all. Text is printed in chunky and thick characters with jagged edges. Photo print quality is plain terrible with a fuzzy appearance to images and a serious lack detail. Smearing is also common in terms of text over colour printing. The only real wow factor to printing is the vibrant ink colours and quality at 2400x600 dpi. Quality toner in vibrant shades doesn't say much when actual print quality is so poor. Photo prints are produced at 4 ppm and text or graphics prints at 16 ppm. Warm-up time is almost non-existing with first page text printing under 18 seconds and colour 26 seconds. Copying is a task quickly and painlessly completed by this multi-function device at 16 pages per minute in mono and 4 pages per minute colour. Unfortunately, photo copies resemble cartoon images.
Media sizes and types- The printer accepts all well known paper types such as plain, glossy, recycled and pre-punched paper, envelopes and cards. The maximum media size compatible with the machine is legal size. A major disadvantage to the printer is it's very low capacity paper tray of 150 sheet, which requires regular re-loading. If you are not keen on regular loading, rather go for another make or model printer.
Systems- All major operating systems are compatible with the printer including Windows, Apple Mac and Linux. This is good news for especially Apple Mac users who often encounter system and printer compatibility problems.
Manufacturers warranty- A twelve month manufacturers warranty covering printer service comes standard with the deal. Keep in mind that labour and parts coverage by warranty is very limited with terms and conditions applicable. Please use only genuine Samsung parts, consumables and service agents as any unauthorized workmanship, parts or consumables can lead to voidance of your warranty.
Connection options- Fast USB 2.0 and Ethernet connections are available on the printer. However you should invest in an USB cable as it is not included with your purchase. Manufacturers in general are stingy in terms of cable inclusion.
Disadvantage- Paper jams are a common problem encountered with the printer. A lot of time can be wasted on the total dismantlement required to fix the jam. Over loading of the paper tray can cause jams. However under loading can also have the same affect. Another cause of jams is the removal of prints too soon after production.
Toner- Starter CLX 2160N cartridge is included with your purchase, with an estimated 1500 black and 700 colour page print capacity. Replacement Samsung CLX 2160N printer cartridge have a 2000 page black and 1000 page colour capacity. Machine consumables are four toner drums, waste toner bottle and image unit.
