Frequently Asked Questions...
Nikon D80 with SB600 fired with Elinchrom Skyport remote trigger - FP not appearing on the LCD of SB600?
I use a Nikon D80. I am firing the SB600 with Elinchrom Skyport as i need it off camera. Even though my Auto FP is ON in the camera, when i go beyond 1/200 shutter speed, FP is not appearing on the SB600's LCD. As it is said that it will automatically show the FP when i go beyond the actual camera flash sync speed. And i am getting my exposure half exposed and half dark. As if like some black card is placed in front of the lens. What should i do to get higher sync speeds with the SB600? Waiting for fast response.
Answer:
Use an off camera shoe cord, like the SC-28 or 29, to control the flash. Very few radio triggers support TTL operation, and without TTL operation, you aren't going to get high speed sync with any flash. There are plans out there on the web that show you how to extend the cords if you need to do so.
There are TTL radio triggers from Pocket Wizard, but they are even more expensive than the regular models, and (so far anyway) not terribly reliable with TTL.
