I hope you aren't the main photographer for this wedding. Based on your question, its apparent that you lack both the equipment and experience needed to do this successfully.
That "... harsh flash look ..." is caused by using the pop-up flash built into your camera. An off-camera external flash mounted on a bracket will help and a diffuser will help even more.
